Naxxar, Malta. December 2014Mangion & Lightfoot, the Malta based award-winning design and technology firm, has once again been recognised by MCA eBusiness Awards as award winners for their latest digital application, the iCaterer App, which they developed for Island Caterers, Malta’s leading caterers for events and the hospitality sector.

This was the second consecutive win for Mangion & Lightfoot. Last year, the firm won the Best B2B Solution for a logistics application they developed for local shipping firm, Sullivan Maritime. This second win further cements the firm’s reputation as an award-winning, world-class creative technology company, with the skills to handle the challenge of innovative development whilst retaining a winning creative design edge.

The MCA eBusiness Best App Award was presented to Matthew Mangion and Mark Lightfoot, Directors at Mangion & Lightfoot, together with Rachelle Tabone, representing Island Caterers during the gala event held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre on December 1st, 2014.

The iCaterer App is a web-based approach to planning wedding and celebrations. The app provides a fresh and novel tool that has been designed to allow couples planning their wedding full control and flexibility whilst guiding them through the process, helping them to choose their perfect venue, menu and wedding detail according to their budget and requirements. Multiple wedding plans may be created anytime and anywhere.  They can be edited, compared and shared with friends and family, all the time allowing the couples to view all the food items and packages offered by Island Caterers in real time from the comfort of their own home. The app also includes the ability to generate quotations and submitted plans to Island Caterers to enable a booking.

The app was developed by the designers and developers from Mangion & Lightfoot, together with the management team at Island Caterers, in response to growing market demands for a useful and innovative way for clients to plan and estimate their weddings, celebrations and events. Apart from the easy to use and intuitive front end, the app includes a full reporting function with tools that allow Island Caters to manage the booking, obtain insights and track the popularity of the featured venues and packages.

The iCaterer App was launched at the Malta Weddings Fair on November 6, 2014 and has already attracted over 350 account signups. The app has been a great success and the feedback has been extremely positive, with comments from couples planning their event saying that they “have found it easy and convenient to use”.

As Mark Lightfoot commented, “We understand how to interpret modern requirements into digital technology, bridging the gap between usability, functionality and design. Today, technology is an integral part of any modern business strategy. For Island Caterers, Malta’s leading catering company, it is helping to deliver competitive advantage, as well as creating tangible brand differentiation. We are proud to be working alongside them, creating tools that make such a difference and add so much value to both the users and the business. Plans for further development are already being discussed and we are delighted that Island Caterers are embracing the opportunities opening up as a result of the digital revolution.”

Mangion & Lightfoot is located in Naxxar and enjoys an international partnership with Market Accents, a strategic marketing and communications firm based in London. Mangion & Lighfoot has embarked on an exciting digital journey and this win further consolidates Mangion & Lightfoot’s credentials in both the creative design and digital markets.
